Dear Haiku Festival:

Regina’s workshop has challenged me and encouraged me to write haiku and become less hesitant about sharing them with others.

Dear Regina Baiocchi:

Thank you for Haiku Festival’s 10th anniversary anthologies! What a pleasant surprise! Both our sons took a book to school to show classmates and teachers. We shared books at our family’s Thanksgiving gathering. Riley’s grandparents took a copy home to enjoy.

Riley recited his Haiku from memory for everyone. It’s interesting how that one day, one moment, has stuck with him. Riley recalls being a part of Haiku Fest like it was yesterday. He is a senior now. He spent the last 4 years playing football, wrestling, and throwing shot-put for Sandburg High. He’s looking at IL State Univ. for a degree in Athletic Training & Special Ed.

We are glad to see what the Haiku Festival has grown to be–and continues to become. I put it in my calendar to help with your continued success!

Best Wishes,

Dear Haiku Festival:

I am so grateful for the opportunity you and your team provide through the Haiku Festival. The program was well organized and efficient with time. I want to express my gratitude to you, and the participating students at Lee Elementary.

Many students thought they could not do it. But as you saw, each tried his/her best; and for that I am excited! This was an awesome experience for the kids and me, to see their creative juices flow. I’m at Lee School twice a week teaching poetry in 9 classrooms. Please keep me posted regarding your activities! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Dear Haiku Festival:

I am the grandmother of Joseph Szczech and knew nothing about Haiku poetry until I attended Haiku Fest Awards Program. It was a wonderful experience for me. I wanted to raise my hand and ask about the word “haiku.” Instead I did a Google search later, and wrote my first Haiku called “Grandson.”

Dear Regina Baiocchi:

Thanks for visiting Langston Hughes School. I cherish my students work with Haiku Fest. Experiences they had will be a part of their intellectual nourishment and future success.

I was amazed by careful steps you take to teach haiku. My students were eagerly involved too!  I deeply appreciate you.

Sincerely,
