Welcome to Haiku Festival’s e-Home!

Haiku Festival celebrates children through poetry, while promoting literacy. We offer year-round events for poets of all ages. Over 20,000 children have participated in Haiku Festival workshops, readings, and juried competitions for 8 to 14 year olds.

Each poet receives a Certificate of Achievement for participating, and reads her or his poem at the annual Awards Program. Winners of cash awards or prizes must attend the annual Awards Program in Chicago during NATIONAL POETRY MONTH (April).

DEADLINE for 13th Annual poetry submission has been extended to Wednesday, 5 April 2017, 12:00 midnight cst. Winners will be notified by mid-April 2017.

Haiku Fest Awards will be issued on Saturday, 29 April, 2017 at Harold Washington Library, 400 South State Street in Chicago. Cash-winning Poets, Teacher-of-the-Year, and School-of-the-Year must be present to read and accept their awards.

Our 2017 guest poet is Li-Young Lee. Other invited guests include Tsukasa Taiko Youth Ensemble (Japanese Drummers). See guest artists.
